The universe is composed of more than 150 billion galaxies. Such a large number makes it possible to have some galaxies that look weirder than others. Scientists have made various discoveries of different universes that appear unusual. The following are some of the strange galaxies.
There is a galaxy in the shape of a disk that spins twice faster compared to the Milky Way. According to the discoveries, the galaxy has not created stars for over 10 billion years. It is said that such a galaxy came to be through the merging of small galaxies. The “dead galaxy” is believed to be changing its structure instead of adjusting the shape because of the combination with other galaxies.
The galaxy resembles the form of a jellyfish that is swimming amidst an ocean of stars. It is a spiral with the stars creating the spiral shape. The middle looks like a bar with stars appearing to drift from the centre like the jellyfish limbs. The stars developing at the tail of gas and dust is a mystery.
The Glowing Thief
Galaxies are known to interact and squeeze each other to new shapes while taking stars. Some time ago scientists found a galaxy siphoning almost half the entire mass of its three neighbouring galaxies. This is an explanation of cannibalism with this galaxy drawing off the close galaxies.
There is said to be galaxy with a disk that looks like it is projecting from space with a big eye. The appearance is dust and other gases streaming and probably produced when the galaxy brush against another one. Scientists discovered that these gases flow towards the middle at a very high speed.
Two Black Holes
Most galaxies have a massive black hole at the middle point. However, there are others with two holes. These galaxies perhaps collect the extra hole during merging or colliding with another nearby galaxy.
